Sleep

We all know how important sleep is especially being deprived of it. Sleep can benefit us by strengthening memory, helping concentration and focus, and enhance the immune system. It makes us feel energized and happier to take on the day's tasks. Why don't people sleep longer to feel its benefits? We know that being sleep deprived can lead to diminished productivity and fatigue. If we know these effects why don't enough people make sleep a priority?

A reasons why is because of technology. The emergence of technology and how it is apart of our daily lives affects our sleep patterns. Artificial lights from our phones screens or from any device can mess with our brain's biological clock or circadian rhythm. Some tips are to stay away from any device at least fifteen minutes before you go to bed. I believe this helps ease your temptations to constantly check your phone.

Stress is always an important factor. It can keep us awake at night thinking of tomorrow's tasks and deadlines. I think especially in high school with the constant work load and tests that it can keep us up late at night. I usually get up to 6 hours of sleep a night and then sleep in on the weekends. I learned that its hard to make up your sleep debt and you should maintain a daily sleep schedule. How much sleep do you guys get a night? How does it make you feel?

  2. I don't think it is technology that keeps us up at night but mainly the stress of school. Having zero period has been tough on me and I have not had a good full 7-8 hours and it makes it worse for me because I am so sleepy in school and tend to not pay attention. Sleep is necessary to live and we need to pay more attention to the rest our body needs.
