Why can't anyone help?

I really cannot grasp why it is so hard for anyone to step in and help this situation.  I mean, this is not just a hater being a hater, it is much more than that and it's not so easy to just "let go" of what they say as if they did not say it. I've heard of cases where trolls have been the main cause for suicides and deaths. I don't understand why the law enforcements can't get involved? Just because it's not happening in person does not mean it's doesn't exist. I mean these are death THREATS, and  something needs to be done because it's easy to be fearful after hearing the. Take for example the article we read in class, where the girl was constantly harassed online and she was alone through it all! No one did anything to help her and the police wasn't even involved. Why is that? What do you guys think might be the reason that police can't/won't do anything to help this situation?

  1. I think that one of the main reasons that law inforcement does not get involved is because many of the comments made on the internet are not illegal. Although to us they are "trolling" most offensive or rude comments are not against the law to post online. Also, even when the comments are illegal threats I do not think that the police know about it because many people do not want to go through the hassle of reporting specific posts or comments. I agree that there should be a better system to stoping online harassment but it is understandable why the police are not very involved in online activity.

  2. I feel you on this paragraph, but the older we get the new generation gets more comfortable with technology so they imune to the hate comments and find it ammusing to do it to others.
