Animal Cruelty And The Food You Eat

http://sks.sirs.com/webapp/article?artno=0000382803&type=ART

This article explains about what is really going on behind chicken barns. The food that gets to your table does not get there without chemicals injected into it. These chemicals may not be of harm to you or anyone that eats chicken, but it does significantly harm the chickens. And yes, the chickens were going to be killed anyways, but why not let them die peacefully, or painlessly. Furthermore, these chemicals are made to enlarge the chickens body mass in order for these companies to harvest more from the chicken at a lower cost. The chickens, at times, are overloaded with these chemicals and either can barley move because of how big their body mass is, or die from an overdose. Not only that, but the conditions at these farms are so bad that the chickens raised there contract a disease called gangrenous dermatitis. This disease eats away the bones, muscle, and organs of the chicken until it dies. Even though the disease is not in anyway harmful to human health, it still goes to show how these animals are treated in farms. Farmers are not at complete fault for the abuse of these animals, the company's are who get these farmers to commit these heinous things towards the animals. Company's take advantage of the fact that the chemicals injected into these animals will lead them to having to pay less for the product, and without being punished of course. Farmers have tried in the past to sell chicken with more traditional genetics, but have failed due to the fact that it's more expensive.
