Food and poverty
In order to further my research I intend to read many articles regarding food and it's relation to poverty in the US. I would really like to find some more information on food stamps, the process of hetting then, and how much they actually help a family. It will be a lot of work considering there are so many opinions, so I will be trying to wade through all the articles. I'm finding it very difficult to move away from food as it relates to obesity because I'm really trying to show the affects of food on the poor. It seems that whenever you are researching the affects food has on people there always seems to be the issue of obesity. I may be falling a little short on my research into the food desert situation and it's affects on how the poor eat and feed their families. The food desert angle is a little hard to research because there isn't a lot of talk about it in California. In California we are surrounded by food places from corner to corner, so I am trying to find an angle that fits my topic. I think I need help finding information regarding the politics angle of this topic because I'm not really understanding how I can work it in. Actually, I'm not really understanding what politics means in relation to this project so I really need help. If anyone could provide me with some information on the political aspects of this project it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Paris! Basically for the political aspect of your paper, you want to relate it back to a government policy or program that stands or that you think should stand which directly impacts your topic. For example, these are some questions I would answer/ look into for your paper specifically:
ReplyDelete-What is the government doing to help lower income families in terms of food? (you could talk about food stamps and the pros/cons of them in relation to the issue)
-Should the government be doing something to help the food desert situations?
-Should the government be doing more to help lower income families with food?
Those are just a few to help you get started! Hopefully you found that helpful:)
