What's Next for My Paper

At this point, I think I should have most of my sources gathered and written into separate body paragraphs.  The whole research paper might be no where close to being complete, but I think I should at least have a sense of where my topic is headed.  I think my biggest problem was finding a research topic that is broad enough to find information on but also specific enough to write a paper with. Currently I am still trying to figure my out thesis.

I know I want to discuss the effects of removing certain food additives on companies (their sales, advertisements, and costs) as well as on people (our health and satisfaction).  A lot of the information I have gathered has been repetitive.  Most accounts of removing food additives are by removing certain colors in cereals.  As a result, my research and paper has been very specific, lacking, and limited.  I need help finding additional companies to talk about or additional food additives being removed.  Also what are some phrases I can search to find information that isn't related to cereal?

My next steps would include me writing out all of the information I have gathered into paragraphs and then rearranging them to find a central idea or thesis.  This seems like the reverse of what should be happening; people usual write a great thesis and the rest of the paper would fall into place, but with all of the research I have gathered, I really wanted to put all my thoughts down somewhere first, in case I forget anything, then work on perfecting my question.

  1. Hey Tiffany, I completely agree with your writing process because I am in the same boat, as a matter of fact we all are. I do not have my essay written out in a good order or even close to being complete because I just have my sources and paragraphs under them discussing my thoughts and summarizing the essay. Plus, I also feel a bit on the edge because I do not want all my sources to be repetitive, thus I am trying to seek far from only the internet. For example, maybe you can do other types of research, aside from the internet such as in the library or venturing out to supermarkets to find out for yourself if the information you gathered is correct. Therefore, you can incorporate you proper experience. I wish you the best if luck, you got this and you are not alone!
