Junk Food Tax

I notice that many people are buying more Junk then Food. Speaking for myself I tend to buy more candy and chips then buying chicken or something. I choose to talk about Junk Food for my research paper , because there is many topics I can bring up dealing with Junk. There is all these unhealthy food places and all these Liquor stores. Everywhere I go, I see all these Liquor stores but there is no actual healthy food places. So people tend to go to the liquor store and buy junk then going to the grocery story and buying healthy foods to cook at home. For example, some people don't want too drive an extra mile to go to a grocery story or framers market. In my opinion, there needs to be more Grocery store and framers market then all these Liquor stores and 7-elevens. Another reason is with all this junk food people are gaining weight and then sickness come from the candy, cookies and sweets. People are spending more of their money on eating junk then they are eating home cooked meals.

  1. I think you bring up a very interesting point about the convenience of buying junk food or fast foods. There are more liquor stores or fast food chains just around the corner that sell affordable foods than there are grocery stores that sell fruits, vegetables, or other meats to cook with. People see cooking as more costly in both time and money, so deciding to by a cheaper bag of chips on the go seems like a much better decision. The idea of taxing junk foods, making healthier foods more affordable, would seem like a brilliant one; however, I am not sure how people would react if the tax were actually passed. I can't imagine having to pay far more for fries and candies than for a stick of carrot. I think a lot of people would be upset with a junk food tax.

  2. I think they'll start taxing the junk food to keep us from eating them as much.
