Applying POF To My Life

Applying Politics of Food To My Life
After focusing on our Politics of Food unit for a while I have been more in tune with what I put in my body.  I've been on a vegetarian diet for over a month and I'm enjoying it. I have noticed that a lot of meat products are fried or full of fatty ingredients. I feel that I was very disassociated with my food, to begin with; it was never really something that I really gave deep thought to. The scene from Food Inc where they cut the chickens throat was very shocking to me to the point where I feel I wasn't even really thinking of this food as even coming from actual animals. At first it was really hard for me not to eat meat because most people do, it's everywhere. Most fast food establishments lack an appetizing vegetarian option. I say "appetizing" because though many places offer a "veggie burger", it's usually not that good in taste. Did you know Burger King has a veggie burger? It's horrible, worst burger I've ever had in my life. I actually enjoy veggie burgers, there are these masala burgers from Trader Joes that are even better than burgers (in my opinion), they use sweet corn as a filler so it's sweet from the corn and savory from the masala. This unit has definitely shown me that as a consumer I should be more aware of how my food is being made and where it is coming from.
