Further Research into School Lunches

When I was figuring out my topic for my research paper I immediately noticed that school districts have tried making a difference and in order to do that they have banned certain foods from being available to students. Although the question I wanted to do further research in was “Is it the school’s responsibility to provide a nutritious lunch to school children?” because although school needs to provide their students with healthy lunches others argue the responsibility is in the hands of the parents. Through my research I have found out in 1946, President Truman created the National School Lunch Program to promote healthy ways to eat to children but can it be the parents fault for not giving their child an education on what healthy eating provides to live a good life. For my research project I want to look at what different schools provide to their students and look into a reason why some parents are not available to provide their child with a healthy meal plan. Schools provide healthy ways instead of being given junk food but there are other opportunities kids have to get the food they want to eat. Parents are suppose to provide healthy food to their children but in some circumstances they are not available to provide a healthy lifestyle. My main question is if it is the school’s responsibility or the parents but I want to research why healthy food costs more than the junk food that is promoted towards young children.
