My progression in my research paper

My topic is about producers making junk food look very appealing and people falling into the trap of eating bad. What I hope to find in my research paper is something that is what is being used to make the food look good. Advertisements like commercials have been brainwashing people for years now with junk food and only continue to do so, I personally eat junk food and it is really apart of most people's diets. The people I am going towards in my paper is the people who don't realize the junk food they are constantly eating is very unhealthy. Where my research paper is falling short is the citations part of my paper which I need to do more work on. Also for my research paper I been doing my own writing and doing research as I go and made it to 3 pages so far. However, my question is should I do research first and then type my paper or should I continue to do what I am doing?
